Communication Skills

I don’t believe finances should be a barrier to treatment. I understand the difficulty that high deductibles and out of pocket requirements cause.

I am willing to work on a sliding scale for those in need.

What to Expect:

After you call or email to set up an initial consultation at (612) 268-0822 or info@counselingandpsychology.com, I will spend about 10-15 minutes getting an overview of your concerns, answer any questions, and let you know how I can help, or suggest some other options. We will set up a time for an initial diagnostic assessment (approximately 60-90 minutes). We will then agree on a course of treatment. Therapy appointments will usually be about 50 minutes. Throughout, you can expect to be treated as a person worthy of respect, compassion, empathy, and support.

**Disclaimer: Therapy is hard work involving strong feelings. However, happiness is one of those feelings. Don’t be surprised if you actually find yourself laughing.

Why Counseling and Psychology, LLC of Minnesota?

Non-Judgemental Assessment and Treatment

I am here to help, not blame. I believe that people do things for a reason, even if they are unsure of what the reason is. Of course that doesn’t mean I am not willing to speak the truth, even if it is uncomfortable.

Willingness to Learn

I have worked with with individuals of all races and sexual orientations, and most belief systems. In addition to private practice, I have worked in settings that include prisons, substance abuse treatment facilities, and college counseling centers. The most important thing that I have learned is that everyone is a unique individual. I am willing to put in the effort to find out who you are so we can work together to make things better.

Experience and Training

In addition to my experience with a wide variety of people and settings. I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Coherence Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and I am a board certified clinical hypnosis. At the University of Memphis, I taught courses in crisis intervention, communication, theories of counseling, and personality and cognitive assessment. I use an evidence-based integrated approach to work with you to create an individually tailored treatment plan.

Flexibility and Convenience

I am willing to do my best to work with your schedule and financial ability. My office is easy to find and get to, as it is between Minneapolis and St. Paul as well as being on the bus line. I offer video and limited in-office appointments.
